Helloooooo FRIDAY!

Mommy's Idea
Hosted by Mrs4444 at Half-Past Kissin' Time

Oh, September! How I have patiently awaited your arrival...okay, maybe not patiently. Come on, Fall!
  • Spent almost four hours in a doctor's office yesterday with Dominic. We found an amazing pediatric allergist. She was with us personally for over an hour, and we had three different nurses helping us. They tested him for food and environmental allergies. Apparently he's as allergic to cats as he is to peanuts. NOT good. He's also allergic to eggs (which is part of the eczema problem), lobster, shrimp, crab, scallops, dust mites and dogs. We still have more testing to do in October but we are developing a treatment plan. She's awesome. Seriously awesome. I'll spend another 400 hours in that woman's office if we can finally get his allergies and skin issues under control.
  • Additionally, I really love my NOOK -- kept a bored child occupied and out of trouble yesterday afternoon. I let him play Angry Birds and I read my book through my iPhone NOOK app. Technology is sometimes rather awesome.
  • The stair climibing competition is over. Thank goodness. And yes, I took the elevator this morning. For the month of August, there were 19 work days taking the stairs and I went up 119 flights. Average of 6.3 flights a day -- pretty mediocre but significantly more than normal. Now I can go back to being a slug.
  • Football has started. College this week, NFL next week. Best part of the year -- September through January. Love this time of year. If we could vanquish the 90 degree weather, if would be perfect.
Happy Friday, y'all. Have a great Labor Day. Don't work too hard.

Who am I to comment on these handheld devices? No expert but I'll comment anyway (the fun of blogging right?).
There's a downside to these handheld games. Reading, creativity, imagination, might not progress as well with constant game playing. I don't mean to be critical of you. I don't know your situation that day or any other day. I just think the game play needs to be balanced with other creative low tech activities.
Years ago the waiting rooms had a children's section with kids books and some basic toys. Do they still offer that?
Being that you are a librarian I'm sure you probably have a great attitude on books.

OH, poor kid on the allergies... I've always been thankful for us not having anything serious, though I probably should have my DD tested. Her eczema isn't as bad as it used to be, but her flareups are horrible!!

Talk to me about the allergy and eczema connection. I am having so many skin issues and I can't get them under control. I didn't even know that getting tested for allergies was an option.

Also, I'm jealous of your library because mine does not have nearly as many books in Spanish for kids as yours does.

Sounds like you found a found a great Dr. That is great. Allergies are the worst--especially for a child! Here's hoping that she can get them taken care of.

Football!!!! YEA!!!!!

Have a great rest of the weekend.

I love that you had a stairs competition. Did your legs feel like jelly for the first few days? I much prefer taking stairs but not because it's healthier. It's because I'm slightly scared and maybe a little claustrophobic in elevators. And I like my space and sometimes it gets crowded and people are all up in my personal space.
